The original Snittlegarth Estate was owned by Lord Gillford and extended to 12,000 acres. It is now farmed on a smaller scale and has the benefit of footpaths from the doorstep on to Binsey Fell and beyond. Snittlegarth lies in a truly tranquil valley close to Ireby and Uldale on the northern fringe of the National Park and provides an idyllic retreat for those who wish to escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life. There are pubs in both Uldale and Ireby, each serving bar meals.

Nestling in an area of complete seclusion at the foot of the Langdale Valley, where some of the Lake Districts most inviting hills and crags can be found, this is most certainly an area of paradise for walkers and climbers. During the months of March to the end of October you have free use of the Log Cabin Leisure Club which is situated within the grounds offering swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi and games room. There are laundry facilities, small shop and a payphone housed on the site.

Please note the lodges are not available during the winter months and are not suitable for the elderly or infirm due to their hillside location.
